Tribal Historian Preservation Officer

This officer works to identify, preserve, and protect historic sites, artifacts, sacred sites and cultural traditions that are historically significant to the Tribe.

Development Division

The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians’ Development Division is one of three major organizational divisions within the Tribal Government that focuses on improving Tribal housing; managing natural resources; strengthening Tribal economic development; overseeing public works; and ensuring that the Tribe’s best interests in all facets of historic preservation are satisfied.

The Division provides wide-ranging leadership to assist in research; community development and planning; submitting requests and justifications for Federal and other funding for which MBCI and all Federally recognized American Indian Tribal Governments are eligible; and for assisting in additional tasks in a timely manner to benefit the members of the Tribe.

The Development Division’s professional team has many decades of successful work experience with the Tribe, fortified by high-level educational credentials and an understanding of not only the immediate needs of the Tribe overall, but also, very importantly, of the backdrop of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians’ history, culture, traditions, geography, community strengths and unmet needs that characterize the Tribe’s rural communities.
